Rescue and Immediate Care Course (RICC) 

The RICC is WIRES introductory wildlife rescue and immediate care training. It is mandatory for all new WIRES volunteers. 

If you are planning to volunteer with WIRES please make sure you have read the information about becoming a rescuer before registering for the course.

Participants must be 18 and over to register for WIRES training.

This comprehensive course covers:

  • Work, Health & Safety
  • Species Identification
  • Common Rescue Scenarios
  • Safe Handling Techniques
  • First Aid
  • Physical Examination
  • Immediate Care

Course Delivery: This course consists of an online theory component and a 1 day practical workshop

Past Members and Former RICC Participants

It is now faster and easier for past members to re-join WIRES and for those who have previously completed the RICC to activate their membership if they would like to get involved as active rescuers and carers.

If it has been less than 2 years since you completed the WIRES RICC you can re-join or activate your membership by contacting members@wires.org.au

If it has been more than 2 years since you completed the course you can re-join or activate your membership after completing the WIRES RICC Refresher, which is delivered 100% online.

Note: To actively volunteer with WIRES you must reside in an area where WIRES is licensed to rescue and care for wildlife by NSW National Parks and Wildlife. If you have any questions about your eligibility please email members@wires.org.au.
